Upcoming Events
These events take place at Portland Works, the historic Sheffield workshop building where my violin workshop is based, and are organised in partnership with Hardy Violins.
The series uses the building’s community space to host small film screenings and live music performances, bringing people together to enjoy music and storytelling in an intimate setting.
Set within a working heritage site long associated with small-scale industry and craft, the events offer a chance to experience music and film in a space that is still very much part of Sheffield’s making culture.
Hartwin Dhoore & Ross Grant
Two of the finest innovators within their own country’s traditional music culture, turned a lockdown collaboration into an exciting live act.
Folk Who Roam Film Premiere ft. Sāwol
Folk Who Roam is a short documentary exploring the relationship between folk music, landscape, and community. The film follows Emma Hardy, a Sheffield-based violin maker as she designs and hand-crafts a fiddle inspired by the Peak District and its traditions of outdoor music-making.
Folk Who Roam Film Premiere ft. Sawōl
Join us for the premiere screening of “Folk Who Roam”, a short film about a violin maker, folk musician and the Peak District landscape. The event features a live performance by Sawōl and a Q&A with the film makers.
