Folk Who Roam Film Premiere ft. Sawōl

  • Hardy Violins Randall Street Sheffield, England, S2 4SJ United Kingdom (map)

Sheffield-based violin maker Emma Hardy bridges the gap between nature and music by designing and hand-crafting a uniquely decorated violin inspired by the Peak District’s history of folk music and land access rights.

The instrument was created to become a ‘common asset’ for the folk music community, and players are encouraged to take the instrument out into the countryside and play it in the environment that inspired it.

Directed by award winning Emma Crome, and photos of the project by ethnographic photographer Cat Vinton .

We are delighted to be joined for a performance by Sawōl: with powerful and connective use of voice and strings, Sāwol (soul, life, spirit and being) comprises Fi Fraser, Jess Arrowsmith, Nancy Kerr, Rosie Butler-Hall, and Sarah Matthews. A coterie of talented women with a wealth of traditional knowledge.

The event will conclude with a Q&A with the film makers.

Booking for this event will open at the end of March
