“Story of Sycamore” Collaboration with Emma Reith, 2026
Instrument in progress
This violin is loosely based on the 1786 model by English maker, John Betts.
Before its current form as a violin, the tree that this instrument is formed from will have cycled through many seasons. For this violin, I’ve teamed up with the much sought after illustrator, Emma Reith. Each section of ribs tells the story of the Acer Pseudoplatanus tree through the seasons – which has long been the traditional wood used by luthiers for centuries.
This violin is in progress, but will be debuted in Stamford – the birthplace of John Betts – as part of a special event held byStamford Strings , where it will remain in their beautiful shop for sale.

Resonant Fiddle 2026
Instrument in progress - due for completion Nov/Dec 2026
The Resonant Fiddle is an exploration of the relationship between traditional fiddle making and the sympathetic string instruments of Scandinavia.
Inspired by the Hardanger fiddle, this instrument features four sympathetic strings running beneath the fingerboard, adding depth, resonance and a unique atmospheric quality to the sound
Designed for folk musicians seeking new expressive possibilities, the Resonant Fiddle combines the familiarity of a violin with the rich, shimmering overtones of its sympathetic strings.

Antique Violin, Workshop of Alfred Knüpfer + Bow
£1,750
This violin appears to have been made in the workshop of Albert Knüpfer, Wernitzgrün, Early 20th century. It is based on a Stradivari model with an attractive tightly flamed two-piece back.
This talented maker worked for a number of important makers including A.Wunderlich, E.Reinhold Schmidt and H.Glass before setting up in his own shop in 1904.
It would suit players looking to upgrade from a modern factory made instrument for something a little more special and with more depth of sound.
This violin is sold in good condition, having been given a new set up very recently.
The bow provided with it is unlabelled, but in good condition.
